Rick Brodsky has over 30 years of experience in the hockey community- nearly 14 of those as owner and president of the Prince George Cougars Hockey Club. Brodsky is responsible for relocating the former Victoria Cougars to Prince George after purchasing the franchise in 1994. Since then, the Cougars, under Rick’s direction, have produced many household names that include such notable stars as Trent Hunter, Chris Mason, Blair Betts, Tyler Bouck, Zdeno Chara, Eric Brewer, and Dan Hamhuis. Brodsky’s involvement with hockey began in 1975 when Brodsky Construction Ltd. purchased the Western Hockey League’s Saskatoon Blades. With Brodsky as president, the Blades hosted one of the most successful Memorial Cups in event history, breaking the event’s existing attendance records. In 1991 Brodsky was active in the planning and execution of the highly successful World Junior Hockey Championships in the City of Saskatoon. In addition, he spent 10 years serving as Chairman of the Board for the Western Hockey League. In July of 2004, Rick took his hockey expertise south of the border, by purchasing the Wichita Falls Wildcats of the North American Hockey League.
