Jason joined the Cougars in December, 2009 and was behind the bench for the first time on December 27, 2009 in Kamloops. Jason is a former WHL'er, who played defence for the Saskatoon Blades, Red Deer Rebels, Kamloops Blazers and Swift Current Broncos between 1991 and 1995. Jason played a total of 221 games in the WHL, totalling 28 goals and 55 assists for 83 points, while racking up 82 penalty minutes. Jason was Captain of the Broncos in his final season in 1994-95. Jason, originally from Saskatoon, SK, spent the following five years with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies hockey team, where he was named CIS Rookie of the Year in 1995-96 and helped the Huskies to three consecutive Canada West championships from 1998-2000. He was named to the Canada West first or second all-star teams in each of his five years at the U-of-S. Jason played pro, mostly in Europe, from 2000 to 2009, winning a pair of German League championships and he also played one season with the Reading Royals of the ECHL.
