50/50 Society

One of the activities the Cougars feel most proud of is the Cougars 50/50 draw at every game. Volunteers from the Prince George Minor Hockey Association are the people you meet at the game organizing and selling the tickets. These folks are hard at work for the entire community as every dollar spent for the 50/50 draw is an investment back into the community of Prince George. While half of the money raised from the 50/50 raffle goes to the lucky draw winner, the PG Cougars 50/50 Society donates their portion to local charities and not-for-profit groups.

Over the years this initiative has injected a large amount of money into the coffers of local causes.  Some of these organizations include Prince George Minor Hockey, The Child Development Centre, Child Find, PG Baseball Association, PG Junior Gray Baseball, Little League and other baseball organizations, figure skating groups, local skiers, St. John's Ambulance, local dance groups, PG Youth Soccer, PG sled dog club, the Ice Skating Oval, the BC Seniors Games, the Rotary Skateboard Park, Fraser Lake Minor Hockey, the College Heights Community Association minor hockey program, School District 57, PG Barracuda Swim Club, Volunteer PG, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Prince George, PG Gymnastics Club, PG Hospice Society, RCMP, PG Hospice Society, McBride Minor Hockey, Houston Ringette Association and the PG Knats Rugby Club. These groups have used the proceeds for such things as sports equipment, uniforms, training equipment, trail enhancement and safety programs.
