Tops Cats Now Property of NHL ClubsNews 2003-04Jun 28 2004Tops Cats Now Property of NHL ClubsCougars pride is really glowing, thanks to the NHL’s 2004 Entry Draft held this past weekend in Raleigh, NC. The Cougars had a pair of players expected to be selected by NHL teams, and there was no disappointment. Justin Pogge, who received the most 1st game star selections on the team (4) while earning a 2.83 GAA and 90.1 save % in 2271 minutes of Cougar hockey this season, was picked up early – Third Round, 90th overall – by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Later on in the day it was Eric Hunter’s turn. The Oakbank, M.B. native was welcomed in by another NHL club, thanks to the Chicago Black Hawks – 8th Round, 229th overall. Pogge and Hunter now await dates for their respective big-league training camps in the fall. Attending these pro-level camps will, of course, be boosts for the whole Cougars organization and the community. Having such top-notch talent in Prince George is the very best reason for coming to watch WHL action at the Multiplex. The regular season is coming soon! |
