Blatchford Selected By Silvertips
The Prince George Cougars Hockey Club would like to announce that the expansion draft to build the ranks of the Everett Silvertips has been completed. The first-year club chose from the Cougars defenseman Ryan Blatchford. Blatchford came to the Cougars last season from the Spokane Chiefs. In 55 games he scored 2 goals, 7 assists and 76 penalty minutes. He was one of only three Cougars to rank above even (+1) on the season’s plus/minus sheet.
“I think the Silvertips got a good player in Ryan, and a very good young man,” says Cougars General Manager Daryl Lubiniecki.
The expansion draft allowed each WHL team a player protection quota, leaving several players on their roster exposed to the draft. Everett could chose up to one player from any given team.
