Prince George Cougars Christmas Campaign 2009
Prince George Cougars fans celebrated the holiday season by supporting various Prince George non-profit organizations at Cougars games in late November and December. The Annual Cougars Christmas partnered the Cougars with several organizations to collect donations of various items for those in need over the winter months.
Summary of Cougars Community Christmas Campaign:
Gift of Hope Night- Friday, November 27; new mittens, gloves, socks and hats were collected to support the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Rotary Food Drive- Saturday, November 28; the Yellowhead Rotary Club of Prince George gathered food for the Prince George Food Bank at the November 28th game vs. Vancouver.
New Toy Drive- Wednesday, December 2; Yellowhead Rotary Club of Prince George and the Salvation Army distributed toys collected at the Dec 2 game with Christmas Cheer Packages.
Bucks for Big Brothers Big Sisters- Thursday, December 3rd; the Cougars joined diners at A&A Gourmet on Central Street to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George.
Christmas Kettles- Thursday, December 3rd; the Prince George Cougars supported the Salvation Army's Kettle Campaign at Pine Centre Mall.
Coats for Kids- Friday, December 4; fans were generous with gently used child’s coats and jackets; as the the Yellowhead Rotary Club of Prince George and the Salvation Army distributed the coats to kids in need.
SPCA Office and Cleaning Supply Drive- Friday, December 18th; office and cleaning supplies were collected at the game to support the local SPCA.
Active Support Against Poverty Footwear for Friends- Saturday, December 19th; Prince George Esporta Specialty Cleaners collected new and used boots and shoes donating collected items to Active Support Against Poverty.
Teddy Bear & Toque Toss- Saturday, December 19; again this year the Cougars collected new stuffed bears and toques in the annual Teddy Bear Toss. Cougar Taylor Makin scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal in the first period, bringing a shower of bears and toques down on the ice. The bears and toques benefit the RCMP Victim Services Unit, the Salvation Army and other organizations in need over the holiday season.
