One of the activities the Cougars feel proudest of is the Cougar 50/50 draw at every game. Volunteers from the Prince George Minor Hockey Association are the people you meet at the game selling and organizing the tickets. They are hard at work for the entire community. Every dollar spent for the 50/50 draw is an investment to the community of Prince George . The money raised from the 50/50 raffle goes towards the PG Cougars 50/50 Society which contibutes the raised funds to local charities and not-for-profit groups.
Over the years this initiative has injected a large amount of money into the coffers of local causes. Some of these organizations include Prince George Minor Hockey, The Child Development Centre, Child Find, Little League and other baseball organizations, figure skating groups, local skiers, St. John’s Ambulance, local dance groups, PG Youth Soccer, PG’s sled dog club, the Ice Skating Oval, the B.C. Seniors Games, the new Skateboard Park, and the College Heights Community Association’s minor hockey program. These groups have used the proceeds for such things as sports equipment, uniforms, training equipment, trail enhancement and safety programs.
Throughout the seasons the Cougars 50/50 Society donated to Prince George Minor Hockey, PG Baseball Association, College Heights Community Association, Fraser Lake Minor Hockey, School District 57, PG Barracuda Swim Club, Volunteer PG, PG Junior Gray’s Baseball, PG Gymnastics Club, PG Hospice Society, RCMP, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Prince George, McBride Minor Hockey, Houston Ringette Association, and the PG Knats Rugby Club.
