The Cougars and CN Support Prince George
CN teams up with the Prince George Cougars for the seventh year to manage a community ticket initiative that offers free hockey tickets to people who work or volunteer for local charities and community organizations.
“Thanks to CN we were able to distribute over 400 free tickets to those who positively impacted our community last season,” said Cougars Vice President, Brandi Brodsky. “Since its inception the program has benefitted nearly 60 organizations, and with CN’s help, we look forward to increasing that number this season.”
Richard Miller, CN's general manager, Mountain Region, said, “The CN Community Ticket Program is a great way for us to say thanks to the many people who work so hard to make Prince George a better place to live and work. The Cougars are well connected with their community and have plenty of great ideas about deserving ticket recipients. Typically, these include volunteer firefighters, emergency-measures organizations, and volunteers and employees who put in long hours with charitable organizations to improve the quality of life in their community.
CN launched the Canada-wide CN Community Ticket Program in 2003 and 15 junior hockey teams are involved, from the Prince George Cougars to the Moncton Wildcats in New Brunswick.
In 2009/2010 the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, St. Mary's School, Prince George Search and Rescue, the Prince George Native Friendship Centre, CFIS-FM,Operation Red Nose and Prince George Community Policing benefitted from free tickets.
