Pogge and Hunter Listed as Top Cats

Two Cougars have secured their place in the eyes of many NHL scouts in preparation for the 2004 NHL Entry Draft this summer. Forward Eric Hunter and Goaltender Justin Pogge, both members of Canada’s U-18 IIHF National Team, have made the NHL’s Central Scouting Service Final Rankings heading into the 2004 draft which is set to take place June 26-27 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Hunter, who was 5th in Cougar scoring this past season (19 g, 23 asst, 42pts), has been ranked 67th overall for North American skaters by Central Scouting. In addition to playing for Canada’s Under 18 Team last August, Hunter also played in the CHL Top Prospects Game last January where he managed to record a goal in his teams win.

Pogge, who was the “Cats” 2003-04 Rookie of the Year, is listed at 8th overall for eligible North American netminders. Pogge established a 2.83 GAA along with a 90.1 save % before becoming the Cougars franchise leader in single season shutouts (3) in only his first WHL campaign.
