Tyrell Thrives At The Next LevelFeature Stories 2007-08Apr 7 2008Tyrell Thrives At The Next Level
The saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. Dana Tyrell is making the most of that opportunity with the Norfolk Admirals of the A.H.L. The Admirals signed the Cougars 2007-2008 MVP at the conclusion of the WHL season and in 8 games with Norfolk, Tyrell has impressed Admirals Head Coach Steve Stirling. “He’s a great kid first and foremost” said Stirling, who’s coaching resume includes 126 games with the New York Islanders. “It really is a win-win scenario for both the club and Dana as it’s a great new experience for him to prepare for the next level.” Stirling’s praise continued “He maybe 5’11, but he plays like he’s 6’1 and that’s because of his heart. His attitude is impeccable, he’s just a player.” Kind words like this from a man as experienced as Stirling should come as no surprise to Cougar fans who have watched Dana play 210 games with Prince George over the past 3 seasons. The 2nd round pick of Tampa Bay notched 25 goals and a career high 65 points this past season. Tyrell has 3 assists in 8 games with the Admirals. The experience Dana is earning while playing for Norfolk will be a huge asset for the Cougars when he returns to Prince George this fall. >Print^Top |
